Introduce students to the vibrant world of open source and Creative Commons licenses. Explain that they allow global sharing of code and datasets for free use, building a foundation for innovation like our AI project. This positive approach to sharing democratizes technology.
AI Ecosystems and Platforms
Platforms like Kaggle, Hugging Face, and GitHub function as essential social networks for coders and AI enthusiasts, not just storage sites. They enable exploration, collaboration, and peer review. Our project leverages this ecosystem by using publicly available chess datasets—accessible via a Notebook—to train our model.
Furthermore, our project introduces a Vocational Education and Training (VET) perspective to this network. By sharing our highly structured dataset and conversion pipeline (potentially automated with GitHub Actions), we contribute a high-quality, professional-grade resource back to the community. This teaches students how to be active, valuable contributors in the open-source development and data science world.
